Job Summary:

This position is part of the Accounts Receivable team at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH). Under the general supervision of the Revenue Manager using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), this position is responsible for Accounts Receivable, Billing, Collections, and Customer Service functions.
The person in this position is responsible for the following:
- Organizes, prepares, and updates financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
- Creates daily payment transaction reports from multiple sources, including WISER, US Bank, CashNet, and Payment insider, and reconciles against Bank statements.
- Analyzes financial data, reports, and records. Identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements basic solutions as needed. Coordinate and process stale checks and refunds and reconcile against journal transactions in WISER.
- Prepares report and process electronic file uploads for all daily payments, write off, and refunds transactions received, including ACH, Lockbox, Credit Card, Internal Transfers
- Develops and maintains automated financial systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity. Coordinate and process electronic insurance claims and manage claim denials. Maintains the accuracy and timely update of insurance claims and financial transactions, customer profiles, and contact information in the billing database and systems. Process various account receivable work queues in EPIC systems.
- Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports
- Perform Journal entries of internal transfer transactions for payments and expenses accounts.
- Answers questions and provides accounting-related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures
- Assists in preparing budgets and financial projections
- Other backup and duties as assigned within WSLH Accounts Receivable Department


Responsibilities:
Performs advanced accounting duties following generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. Prepares and reviews financial reports and assists with budgeting. Ensures the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions.
  • 30% Organizes, prepares, and updates financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
  • 20% Prepares and analyzes financial data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements solutions as needed
  • 10% Develops and maintains automated financial systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity
  • 10% Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports
  • 10% Provides and prepares budgets and projections based on existing data and established policies and procedures
  • 10% Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures
  • 5% Coordinate and process electronic insurance claims and manage claim denials.
  • 5% Process various account receivable work queues in EPIC systems.

Education:

Preferred
Associate's Degree


Qualifications:

2 years in Finance or Accounting.
Proficient in Excel and MS Outlook
Preferred associate degree in Finance, Business or Accounting
Prefer previous experience in Financial, Accounting, Insurance billing and collections.
Preferred University of Wisconsin accounting and general ledger. Experience with WISER and SFS preferred.

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $43,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum annual salary for this position is $43,000/year. Salary to be determined upon hire based on qualifications.


Additional Information:

Standard work hours are 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
