Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
Detail oriented accountant with a proven track record in all aspects of accounts payable, showcasing exceptional proficiency in financial transactions, invoice processing and assisting with expense report preparation, following up on outstanding payments, managing vendor relationships and communications, ensuring timely payments, resolving billing discrepancies and issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, mastery of accounting software tools, and exceptional verbal written and professional communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with management, financial staff, colleagues, and foster strong relationships within and outside the organization. Seamlessly transition between tasks while proactively managing deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities as needed. This is an in-person position on the downtown campus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated track record of successful experience in all aspects of accounts payable, showcasing proficiency in financial transactions, invoice processing, and vendor management, and budget management.
• Mastery of accounting software tools and a strong foundation in accounting principles are critical requirements for this role.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, superb organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work with numbers accurately is a must.
• Intermediate level using Microsoft Excel with the ability to create complex formulas, utilize pivot tables, lookup functions, and generate reports.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of database applications.
• Exceptional proficiency in verbal and written communication, with a professional demeanor that fosters effective interactions across all levels of the organization, including vendors and external partners.
• Strong aptitude for collaboration and exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling seamless teamwork and relationship dash building with colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated mindfulness of deadlines and a dedicated commitment to timely work delivery, while also understanding the interconnected nature of tasks within the accounting team.
• Collaborates effectively and timely with team members to support and meet their deadlines.
• Demonstrated capability to effectively multitask, prioritize work assignments, and seamlessly adapt to shifting priorities and new projects as required sometimes at a moment’s notice.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed without exception.
• Ability to work both independently and with employees across all levels of the organization.
• Manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and visual acuity to read computer monitor.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended. 
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting and one year of accounting experience. 
OR 
• High School Diploma/equivalent and six years of accounts payable/accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 1+ year experience or high school diploma with 6+ years experience in accounts payable/accounting
• Experience with accounting software and online platforms
• Intermediate knowledge level of Excel 
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 24.
