Accountant I
Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
Applies generally accepted accounting principles, as well as accounting theory and practice, in performing accounting functions for the Newcomb Art Museum. Utilizes analytical and evaluative skills to perform financial review and oversight of departmental expenses and income. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, completes financial reports, identifies trends, and makes recommendations regarding spending activities. Reviews and processes invoices and purchase requisitions; serves as departmental delegate for all related financial Concur activities, and performs general administrative tasks. Assists in preparing annual budgets for operational units within the Newcomb Art Museum. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Working knowledge and proficiency in using standard computer-based spreadsheets and databases, to include Excel spreadsheet preparation and word processing software
• Ability to prepare basic financial statements and reports; ability to review and analyze financial information and to maintain routine accounting information in appropriate ledgers, journals, and/or databases.
• Excellent oral, written, and personal communication skills.
• Proficiency using standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, fax machines, etc.
• Ability and willingness to learn new software and accounting systems specifically utilized at Tulane University.
• Ability to follow instructions and directives without constant supervision.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet established or anticipated deadlines.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• One year of accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
• More than one year of accounting experience

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade null.
