The Division of Business and Finance within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a full time Accountant to join our team. Our work consists of providing Business Office support to the Emory Primate Center.

The ideal candidate should be motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, have a positive attitude and passion for research support.  The Senior Accountant will be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and collaborate with lab members and center members. The Accountant will work to ensure the highest quality of laboratory research support, and has good communication skills with co-workers, the management team, PI’s, research staff, students, and other support services.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  • Performs routine professional accounting duties requiring limited independent judgment.
  • Monitors, audits and reconciles departmental accounts.
  • Researches and creates new accounts and codes.
  • Prepares journal transactions, balances accounts, reconciles errors and takes corrective action.
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets.
  • Advises management of cash deficits.
  • Prepares audit schedules in support of internal and external audits.
  • Maintains databases and assimilates financial and statistical data.
  • Prepares routine operational and statistical reports.
  • May assist with computer operations for the department.
  • May maintain departmental grants and monitor petty cash activity.
  • May coordinate invoice preparation, payables and/or receivables.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
  • Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat.
