About UC Blue Ash

The Business Affairs department within University of Cincinnati- Blue Ash College (UCBA) invites applications for an Accountant 1 position. UC Blue Ash is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio and one of the largest and most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 4500 students.


Job Overview

The Accountant 1 will be engaged in the day-to-day administration of Business Office activities. The person in this position will perform a variety of purchasing transactions (requisitions, check request, accounts payable & contract management) and will be responsible for processing College grants including pre & post award functions.  They will also maintain access to keys for the Blue Ash campus in collaboration with Public Safety (ordering, distributing, notification & database management). May also serve in a backup capacity for timekeeping, scholarships, treasury, payroll, and other business office functions as needed.


Essential Functions
  • Maintain routine account journals and prepare basic financial statements.
  • Monitor and interpret financial data in the development of cost analysis and reports.
  • Analyze, establish, and maintain accounting systems.
  • May process purchase requisitions, invoices and change orders.
  • May perform internal auditing of financial records.
  • Prepare financial/statistical analysis reports.
  • Recommend accounting and control systems.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in Accounting or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Fund accounting experience.
  • SAP financial software experience.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft products.
  • Higher Education experience
  • Grant accounting experience
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to function as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills
  • 1 year of related accounting experience

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
