Purpose

This position aims to support the sharing of networks, resources, and strategies for improving continuing education and training for deaf people.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee help desk operations, including help desk inquiries by phone/videophone, email, or one-on-one virtual appointments by providing guidance and consultation using practices the promote access.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for creating and/or delivering timely training, guidance, consultation, or strategies to improve knowledge of practices or strategies supported by the best available evidence.

  • Contribute to an environment and culture of community and belonging through continuous development and learning.

  • Track and document technical assistance activities using online database tracking software.

  • Keep abreast of new developments, technology, and best practices in the field in order to implement new or effective training and technical assistance.


Required Qualifications

At least six or more years of experience working in disability services in higher education or postsecondary training setting. Proficient knowledge of higher education and postsecondary training accessibility frameworks, accessibility practices, accommodations, auxiliary aides, assistive technology, and relevant community resources. Demonstrated experience consulting, training, or providing professional development to a variety of stakeholders and/or experience developing professional resources. At least 3 years experience supervising or managing other people. Master’s degree in disability studies, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, postsecondary programs and services, deaf education, special education, or other related fields. Beginner proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

At least seven or more years of experience working in disability services in higher education or postsecondary training setting(s). Advance to expert knowledge of higher education and postsecondary training accessibility frameworks, accessibility practices, accommodations, auxiliary aides, assistive technology, and relevant community resources. Expert knowledge of community resources and related system support services. A seasoned professional with experience consulting, training professionals, or developing professional resources. Direct supervisory experience. Master’s degree in disability studies, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, postsecondary programs and services, deaf education, special education, or other related fields. Intermediate or greater proficiency in American Sign Language preferred.


Salary Range

$62,000 - $67,000

This position is based in Austin with possibility for some remote/ hybrid work.
