Access Services Specialist, Evenings

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the position of Access Services Specialist, Evenings for the Department of University Libraries.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Performs duties to assist the Access Services Coordinator or in the absence of an Access Services Coordinator, to oversee the daily operation of Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons.
· Performs duties to support the Access Services Department as needed.
· Provides in-person and online assistance with all aspects of the circulation of library materials to all library patrons as needed.
· Provides in-person and online reference, website, library account, requesting & borrowing materials assistance using available physical and electronic resources to all library patrons as needed.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of library or customer service experience are required. Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience in the following are preferred: working in an academic library; working with library technologies, Interlibrary Loan, Reserves, Reference and Circulation; supervisory experience; working non-traditional hours.

Library Specialist (CD20/61121652/FTE-S00997P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary range: $31,561.00 (minimum) – $44,977.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Sunday through Thursday, 3:30 pm to 12:00 am. This position requires working flexible shifts including weekends. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years library or customer service experience required. Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in academic library; experience with library technologies, Interlibrary Loan, Reserves, Reference and Circulation; supervisory experience; experience working non-traditional hours preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends; ability to respond appropriately to a wide variety of situations and enforce emergency procedures if necessary; computer and technology skills; strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to use good judgment and make appropriate decisions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and without direct supervision required. Experience with library automated systems and supervisory experience are highly desirable.

The normal hours for this position are 3:30 pm-midnight, Sunday – Thursday; hours and days may be adjusted during semester breaks and summer; overnight shift may be assigned during exams.
