Summary of Job Duties:

Access Manager manages the day-to-day operations of an Access unit within the Integrated Revenue Cycle (IRC). Responsible for unit performance that meets or exceeds the unit standards as developed by the IRC director, and Department Administrator. Position reports directly to IMSL Senior Practice Manager. Position will comply with all IRC, Integrated Clinical Enterprise, and UAMS policies and will ensure that direct and indirect reports comply as well. Position will serve as an advocate for enhanced revenue cycle performance within the unit. Position supervises staff and ensures all Office of Human Resource policies and regulatory guidelines are followed. Responsible for ensuring unit provides the highest level of customer service.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or related field of study PLUS Five (5) years of experience in patient scheduling, registration and billing in a healthcare work environment; experience to include at least Two (2) years of supervisory experience OR High School Diploma/GED PLUS Nine (9) years of experience in patient scheduling, registration and billing in a healthcare work environment; experience to include at least Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CHAA certification

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff by monitoring activities and productivity on a daily basis to ensure department expectations are met for referral turnaround times, call statistics, quality, and customer service.

  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels based on workload and ensures adequate staffing coverage is in place to support the Call Center office hours.

  • Administers and maintains performance standards for productivity, quality, and compliance

  • Reviews and researches all patient or Service Line complaints and brings them to resolution.

  • Develops the departmental team by providing guidance regarding any errors found during research of a complaint.

  • Provides opportunities for staff members to gain additional knowledge regarding all aspects of their position and develop customer service skills.

  • Processes purchase requisitions and travel requests.

  • Reviews and resolves any invoicing, purchasing and reimbursement issues. Processes contract billing, including staff hours worked, equipment purchases, and individual outside contract payments.

  • Monitors staff performance by conducting quality and productivity audits, administering training, and facilitating all HR functions within the department.

  • Collaborates with Service Line leadership as requested to identify opportunities for improving the patient experience and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
