Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for coordinating both academic and campus wide accommodations for students with disabilities. The incumbent is required to be in contact with EKU offices and off campus entities to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The incumbent is also required to inform the campus and community of issues related to disabilities and of the services of the Center for Student Accessibility through publications, presentations, or other means.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Education or related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Experience: At least one year of experience required in the following areas.
•Experience in analyzing psychological-educational evaluations, medical records, audiograms, and neurological reports, to determine the appropriate academic adjustments, and campus wide accommodations for students with varied disabilities; including but not limited to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, students with visual impairments, learning differences, mental health issues.
•Academic and Social Impact of Disability and Intersectionality
•Knowledge of ADA law; federal, state, and local and implementation thereof
•Knowledge of developing academic skills in college students with varied disabilities
• Knowledge of assistive technology, use of auxiliary aids, and software available to post-secondary students with disabilities
•Working knowledge of fundamental concepts regarding disability and intersectionality in higher education,
•Case management

The nature of the work requires self-regulation, self-control, self-monitoring, and efficient
use of time and Center for Student Accessibility resources. Incumbent collects data and demonstrates working knowledge and interpretation of psychoeducational, psychological, or educational assessments Work requires the employee to use judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures. Guidance from the Director and the Center for Student Accessibility Staff is available. Incumbent will have an independent and collaborative responsibility for designing academic coaching services, developing, and executing academic interventions, procedures, and methods for students with disability and intersectionality. Performs a range of straightforward tasks within the field of work. Variation in the work pattern may be expected. Incumbent will support University mission, goals, and directives and that of the Center for Student Accessibility. Incumbent will have responsibility to execute departments/university’s established procedures, and professional and ethical practices. Collaborating with other members of the Center for Student Accessibility the individual is responsible for ensuring that the needs of students with disabilities are met. The position requires a broad range of knowledge about disabilities, law related to disabilities, services offered by the university and other entities, and other matters related to disabilities.

Job Duties:

  • 70% - Provide assistance and customer service to college students with disabilities. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Coordinate and collaborate with EKU offices and other off campus entities to plan events/activities and to provide needed services to students with disabilities. - (Essential)
