Job Description
The Access Consultant with Sara Bea Accessibility Services will work individually with students with a wide variety of disabilities to determine if they are eligible for accommodations and coordinating those accommodations with University partners. As a key member of the Sara Bea team, this person will manage a case load of students providing individual support with navigating their accommodations on campus. In the process they will review medical documentation, collaborate with University partners, and determine what a reasonable accommodation is within the context of University policies. In order to provide these accommodations for their assigned case load, this role will work closely with partners in the Academy, Residential Life, Campus Dining, and Student Life. In addition to these responsibilities, this role will work closely with the other functions of the office, including giving presentations to students, staff, and faculty, supporting outreach efforts, and assisting with the work of the Testing Center.
The Access Consultant will:
  • Conduct student interviews, review medical documentation, and collaborate with key campus partners to determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Manage a caseload of students with mental health and chronic medical conditions to ensure that students are receiving appropriate accommodations and using other campus resources to have the best opportunity for success.
  • Maintain confidential student files and records of accommodations provided.
  • Assist with on-going review of the policies and procedures of the processes used to provide students with reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, education or related field.
  • 1- 2 years experience.
  • Experience working with college students with disabilities and have a strong working knowledge of Federal laws.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, experience with training and education, and excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will be a team player and able to successfully collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience determining appropriate accommodations for students with mental health conditions preferred.
