The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute, a Department of Energy University Facility, is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute, we focus on conducting basic research, educating students in accelerator-based science and technology, and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science, materials science, analytical procedures and nuclear medicine. Required Education:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to use basic hand tools.

  • Basic electrical/mechanical aptitude skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work in the rotating shift schedule, and fill-in as needed.

Preferred Education:

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of electronic and vacuum systems.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver license or ability to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle driver license.

Preferred Other Factors:

  • Training will be provided in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Cryogenic System Adjustments: Performs basic Cryogenic system adjustments.

  • Data Log & Ram System: Maintains data log. Monitors RAM Systems.

  • Interlock Checks & Beamlines: Assists with interlock checks. Changes modes and sets up beamlines.

  • Troubleshoot: Troubleshoots basic beam loss.

  • Engineering Staff: Works with engineering staff on facility-related projects.

  • Control System/Vacuum System: Operates control systems and starts/stops vacuum systems.

  • See Line: Performs See line 2-key checks.

  • Tune RF: Tunes RF on accelerators. Makes basic machine adjustments and peaks beam for experiments.

  • Assist Experimenters & Daily Lab: Assists experimenters with technical issues. Performs daily lab tasks. If an occasion arises, picks up supplies on or off campus.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
