Job Type: FullTime

Boston University Academy is seeking a Math Teacher to begin in August 2024. Primary responsibilities include teaching four sections of math, likely including calculus. Course placements are still being developed for next year, and we have some flexibility to tailor the teaching load to the strengths and interests of the candidate. Additional duties will include advising senior thesis projects in STEM fields and contributing to other aspects of independent school life: leading clubs and activities, chaperoning trips, and possibly coaching. Applicants with a particular interest in robotics, chess, competitive math, and/or computer science are encouraged to share that in their cover letters. The teacher will join a five-person department committed to inquiry-based approaches and student-centered teaching and learning math.

As the only high school in New England that is part of a major research university, Boston University Academy (BUA) offers students who love learning both a traditional, caring independent school experience and access to a broad range of university courses. In the eleventh and twelfth grades, students follow their passions by regularly completing up to twelve courses from Boston University’s undergraduate curriculum. The school’s 233 students are curious, capable, and kind. They come from 55 cities and towns in the Greater Boston area. 56% of students identify as students of color. 30% of students are on financial aid — a reflection of BUA’s commitment to equity and access.

Boston University’s generous benefits package includes health, dental, life insurance, and paid time off. Full-time employees are also eligible for tuition remission for graduate work at Boston University, and remission extends to dependents as well.
