Job Description:

The Aca​​demic Technology Equipment and Facilities Assistant will work in the supervision of the Equipment Room and related facilities ( DJ Lab,  Ensemble Rooms, and Teaching Rooms) during instructional weeks in the academic calendar. This includes checking students in and out at the time of their reservations, the management and control of all audio and video equipment (e.g. amps, cables, microphones, cameras, etc…), helping students with troubleshooting problems in the room, and assisting them during their reservation time as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of the Equipment Room, DJ Lab,  Ensemble Rooms, Practice Rooms  and Teaching Rooms facilities during campus opening hours, including early mornings, late nights and weekends.

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and normalizing the aforementioned facilities, and assisting students as appropriate during their reservation and rehearsals.

  • Supervision of the intranet equipment reservations for classes and events.

  • Check students in and out of their reservations.

  • Support faculty during special classes setup.

  • Organize equipment storage and assist with carrying out inventory and maintenance tasks.

  • Organize schedules, both personally and with a group of people

  • Assist other areas and activities within the Technology Department, such as giving support during concerts and events

  • Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience working in computer technology and expertise with macOS.

  • General knowledge of the functioning of audio and video equipment and signal flow.

  • Knowledge of musical instruments maintenance will be an asset.

  • Motivation to learn about new equipment and technologies.

  • The ability to work quickly and under pressure without losing focus

  • Punctuality

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Availability to work shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays.

  • The ability to follow detailed and complex instructions

  • Fluent English and Spanish skills required (C1 or higher for both languages)
