Job Description:

The Academic Technology Coordinator at the Berklee College of Music Valencia Campus, will assist the Academic Technology Manager in all aspects of the daily maintenance of the operations of all the campus's state-of-the-art systems. They will maintain the technology labs, studios and classrooms computers, and provide daily technological support to the community.

Essential Functions / Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain campus workstations including software installation and update.

  • Provide software and hardware support for staff, faculty and students 

  • Provide technical support to the entire Valencia Campus including laboratories, classes, recording studios, rehearsal rooms, etc., ensuring its correct operation.

  • Monitor the ticket system in order to solve hardware and software problems.

  • Assist in the implementation of changes to facilities and systems, particularly between semesters. (Installation, configuration and updating of new software and hardware, ensuring that the facilities are ready for the start of classes)

  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the campus network and telecommunications infrastructure.

  • Provide support to events both on and off campus.

  • Additional responsibilities as required

Knowledge and Skills Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of Mac OS X, iOS and Windows.

  • Advanced hardware and software experience, including installation, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Extensive knowledge of audio and video hardware and software (audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, DAW software, plugins, sound libraries, license management, etc.)

  • Ability to implement, troubleshoot, repair and maintain network infrastructures, including a solid knowledge of all network components (connections, documentation, network hardware, network devices, cabling, management of cores / switches, network monitoring devices and backups)

  • Shell scripting and Python knowledge is highly desirable

  • Working knowledge of peripheral devices, including printers, cable and video adapters, IP phones, monitors and projectors

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Ability to communicate with administrators, faculty, staff, and students in a professional, sensitive manner.

  • Fluent level of spoken and written Spanish and English. Other languages are a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively within an ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse student population.

  • Must work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a group.

  • Candidates must already have the right to work in Spain to apply for this position.

  • Candidates must be willing to work nights, weekends and travel.
