Position Purpose

We are looking for customer service specialists. An Academic Support Representative is a current UCM student who works to engage the campus and build awareness of tutoring, writing, and other support services. Applicants must demonstrate student-centeredness and be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds in a positive manner. 
Position duties include:
  • Represent Academic Support Services for presentations and workshops in-person and online.
  • Assist in identifying, designing, and creating content to promote the Academic Support Services. Aid in producing content for Learning Commons social media.
  • Greet, ascertain needs, and direct students, faculty, administrators, and visitors to the appropriate persons/areas. Answer telephone inquiries. Manage Learning Commons email communications.
  • Assist professional and student staff with arranging and keeping appointments; inform personnel of arrival of in-office and online appointments.
  • Complete routine duties, such as: filing, keyboarding, typing, reproduction of instructional handouts, tests, brochures, reports, proposals, administrative forms, mass mailings and correspondence.  
  • Set up and enter data into UCM databases. Support records maintenance of student usage. Assist with data reporting. 
  • Preserve confidentiality of academic and administrative records and activities.  
  • Partner and work collaboratively with university staff and faculty.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff training, meetings, and workshops.
  • Other projects as assigned.
Education & Formal Training
Computer Skills Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation
Experience
More than 2 years on UCM or other college campus support experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Experience with social media postings. Experience with Microsoft Office & Google applications. An ability to be imaginative, creative, and self-motivated desirable. Comfortable speaking to small and large groups.
