PURPOSE
The Academic Support Coordinator, under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Tutoring & Learning Services (TLS), supports the implementation of peer tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), and other academic support services in TLS. In addition, the Academic Support Coordinator supervises and mentors student workers; oversees day-to-day operations related to academic support services; and assists the Assistant Director in maintaining CRLA certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES
RECRUITMENT & SUPERVISION: 40%
Assists the Assistant Director with the recruiting, hiring, and scheduling of all peer tutors, SI leaders, and other academic support services staff.
Assists the Assistant Director with the training and mentoring of all peer tutors, SI leaders, and other academic support services staff.
Manages time entries, timesheets, and payroll requirements for all TLS staff assigned to supervise.
Facilitates evaluations of tutors, SI leaders, and other academic support services staff.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: 50 %
Manage day-to-day operations
Maintains the schedule and website for peer tutoring and SI
Facilitates feedback surveys or other strategies to collect data from students using peer tutoring, SI, and other academic support services.
Supports, maintains, and reports student visit tracking and session data via TracCloud and Starfish databases.
Responds to inquiries and student referrals regarding tutoring, SI, and other TLS academic support services.
OUTREACH: 5%
Creates and distributes promotional materials to advertise academic support services
Promote academic support services on campus
Participate in TLS academic support outreach events and activities
Participate in student visits and orientation events
Host workshops as directed by TLS leadership
OTHER PROGRAM SUPPORT: 5%
Participate in committees, advisory groups, and work groups as assigned by supervisor
Assists the Assistant Director, as needed, with other programs and initiatives in the College Readiness and Academic Support unit
Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree
Two (2) years of related experience supporting (i.e. tutoring, mentoring, supplemental instruction, advising) and/or teaching undergraduate students
Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience qualification:
Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Additional years of related experience supporting (i.e. tutoring, mentoring, supplemental instruction, advising) and/or teaching undergraduate students
Experience supervising student employees
Experience in tutoring, SI, or other academic support programming
CRLA-certified and/or CRLA training experience
Familiarity with TracCloud/TutorTrac, Starfish, Workday, or other similar tracking and management systems
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
SALARY: $3,750.00 Monthly ($45,000.00 Annual, Approximately)
