Academic Support Coordinator II

The Opportunity: 


The Coordinator reports to the Manager of the Upward Bound Program (ACE) and is responsible for providing direct student services and support.
 


Responsibilities:  


  • Implements the recruitment, orientation/interviews, and intake of the required number of students approved by the Department of Education in order to meet the program goals and objectives. 

  • Provides required and selected permissible services for the targeted population in the areas of academic, advice and career, personal advising, and coaching. 

  • Builds solid and trusting advising relationships with 60 new and continuing scholars.

  • Tracks UB students’ academic advising and participation requirements; assist participants with course selection to meet graduation requirements and develops/monitors Individual Academic Plans (IAPs).

  • Maintains appropriate and accurate student records; maintains contacts in Blumen database.

  • Documents student participation in project services.

  • Oversees and participates in occasional overnight and off campus trips with participants.

  • Assists with the planning and implementation of the Summer Academy.

  • Establishes and maintains a strong networks of relationships among the UB program, target school, community and various stakeholders.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager and/or Director/TRIO Programs.



    Minimum Qualifications


    Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information    


     


    Preferred Qualifications: 


    • Experience working with pre-collegiate students (grades 9-12). 

    • Experience navigating the secondary school system. 

    • Program development experience related to advising and career planning. 

    • Demonstrated ability to work with students from varied backgrounds and experiences.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 

    • Ability to handle a high volume of work and can prioritize and work efficiently. 

    • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

    • Ability to travel to our colleges and Apopka High School.


    Special Instructions to the Applicants: 


    The position is provisional and is grant funded through August 31, 2027 by the U.S. Department of Education/TRIO.

    Finalist will undergo a Level 1 and 2 background check per UCF requirements for working with minor youth.
