Job Description
The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport & Energy (SEMTE) in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is seeking a well‐qualified candidate for an Academic Success Advising Coordinator, Sr. Undergraduate Advising at the Tempe campus. This position will be split approximately 25% academic advising and 75% administrative/management job duties. The administrative portion of the position will include hiring, onboarding, supervising, coaching, and professional development of a minimum of three (3) undergraduate academic success advisors with varying levels of experience. This position will work as part of a leadership team to create and implement strategic recommendations to support and advance the advising enterprise. This position reports to the Manager, Undergraduate Advising.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and performance management of designated academic success advising staff.
- Leads/supervises academic success staff in the providing academic advising services, recruitment, retention, and/or academic program functions to ensure needs of students are met for successful completion of the degree.
- Establishes performance goals for staff and monitors progress throughout the year, acts as team leader or senior resource for professional staff.
- Works closely and collaboratively with manager, assistant director, program chairs, director and university administrators to implement policies and practices in support of college, department, and university goals.
- Serves as an active member of the advising leadership team; represents needs of supervisees to leadership in an effort to ensure a strong advising team.
- Regularly attends supervisory and HR trainings to ensure effective supervision.
- Works collaboratively and collegially with academic units and services throughout the university to facilitate comprehensive student support.
- Acts as a program/school liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, as well as college and university committees, on issues related to academic success.
- Provides academic advising and/or interacts with students in support of academic success approximately 25% of the time.
- Manages academic advising services offered to students in the online platform; work collaboratively with online advisors, FSE Dean’s office online team, EdPlus, Pat Tillman Center and other related campus partners.
- Assists in development and implementation of academic advising policies.
- Utilizes a variety of university data and programmatic direction to promote student academic success including eAdvisor, DARS, Peoplesoft, ASU Dashboards, SalesForce, WebXtender, Analytics, and MyReports.
- Responds to student questions, concerns, and escalations; works with students to resolve all issues to ensure ongoing satisfaction with program and successful progress to completion.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in related field and three (3) years or more of advising or related student services experience, one of which should be in the field of academic advising; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in a higher education setting or experience leading advising teams in support of largescale initiatives.
- Experience in higher education academic advising, including advising online students.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in academic advising.
- Experience in student outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Amazon WorkSpaces, Analytics, PeopleSoft, Salesforce, WebXtender, and Degree Audit Systems(DARS)
- Experience interacting with diverse populations
- Evidence of effective communication skills
Working Environment
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended period of sitting.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Effective communication skills.
- Works from general instructions on standard job duties and specific directions/instructions on new assignments.
