Overview of Senior Business and Information Analyst

Purdue University Northwest is seeking a Senior Business and Information Analyst in the Reporting and Operational Intelligence Department.  As the Senior Business and Information Analyst, you will support the management and oversight of the daily overall Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) functionality. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success Technologies, the position provides vision and direction on how to leverage modern technologies in a way that improves operational efficiencies, user experience, and student experience.

Duties and Responsibilities of Senior Business and Information Analyst
  • Build, implement, test, and maintain new processes and functionality that will be used by Enrollment Management & Student Affairs (EMSA) units during day-to-day operations including oversight of several business processes and CRM systems
  • Responsibilities include: staying abreast of new technologies and enhancements to existing solutions, working closely with Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success Technologies to see projects move from conception to completion, collect feedback from users to set priorities, and fostering a collaborative work environment within EMSA
  • Assist the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success Technologies in taking steps that minimize risk to the University and foreseeing potential problems before they occur; while ensuring proper documentation or standardized processes and routine procedures
  • Work with Information Services to provide a reporting infrastructure for ongoing development of a suite of reports and dashboards to support data driven decisions and operational data clean-up to ensure accurate and valid data
  • Support all areas of EMSA in providing ad hoc reporting data for daily operational needs
  • Work with all areas within EMSA to assist with validating data within reports
  • Assist with supporting intuitional compliance with federal state, Purdue University systems, and NCAA rules, regulations and policies
  • Oversee application and implementation of regulatory releases and updates from the functional perspective; coordinates testing of all EMSA modules by developing and maintaining functional testing plans for system upgrades, changes, etc.

Education of Senior Business and Information Analyst
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field

Experience of Senior Business and Information Analyst

Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ business analyst experience within Higher Education and at least one year SQL experience utilizing a relational database
  • Must have experience using Banner or other comparable student information system

 

Preferred:

  • Cognos or similar reporting tool experience highly preferred

Core Competencies of Senior Business and Information Analyst
  • High analytical skills and attention to detail with an emphasis on business process improvement, data analysis and oversight in the completion of comprehensive testing in preparation for the implementation of software patches/upgrades
  • Ability to think strategically and implement new processes, concepts, or office efficiencies leveraging modern technologies such as CRM (Technolutions Slate)
  • CRM, or Student Information System such as Banner experience
  • Ability to provide professional reports, easy to understand and analyze
  • Experience in extracting data from the student information system or other relational database using COGNOS or similar reporting tools, SQL in order to develop queries and analyze data to present accurate and useful reports based on an understanding of business process and user specifications
  • Responsive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment and fluctuating responsibilities
  • Willingness to start projects from scratch and brainstorming solutions to problems
  • Ability to think creatively and quickly to resolve system and process issues
  • Display a high level of conscientiousness and follow-through
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
  • Experience with relational database management systems required along with strong SQL programming skills preferred. Strong analysis skills required
  • Ability to work effectively with people with differing levels of technical knowledge
  • Demonstrated understanding of Enrollment Management Systems
  • Professional demeanor and works well with others
