Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Academic Services Officer I/II (A99630) at its Schoolcraft Center (UCSC) location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Transfer and Program Specialists are of increasing importance on college campuses to support student success.

This position serves as a direct point-of-contact for students and colleges/schools to support students in transition (transfer, non-traditional, and adult), off-campus centers, and transfer pathways.

Supports recruitment, onboarding, and academic programming (on- and off-campus) that aligns with transfer and non-traditional best practices, enrollment management, market conditions, and momentum milestones initiatives.

Collaborates and administers off-campus academic degree and non-degree programming including scheduling, staffing, registration, etc. for courses/programs, conferences, and/or seminars.

Actively participates in transfer and off-campus planning, development, and implementation strategies related to recruitment, extension center enrollment, and student success.

Supports and participates in student transition advising, recruitment, and engagement initiatives, including individualized pre-transfer planning sessions and workshops.

Maintain knowledge of curriculum developments, enrollment trends and market conditions to identify transfer and off-campus opportunities and threats.

Assist and supports schools/colleges in developing special instructional and recruitment programs for transfer and off-campus students.

Build and maintain relationships with university departments, colleges/schools, community college partners, and business and industry.

Monitor student progress and off-campus academic offerings.

Communicate University and transfer policies, deadline(s), and opportunities.

Compile data and maintain statistical and progress reports relating to areas of responsibility as requested/required.

Back-up on-site supervision at WSU off-campus sites as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned or required at locations on or off campus at times the demand for services is greatest.  

Fall/Winter Semesters: Monday-Thursday 9:30am-6:00pm and Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Summer Semester: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

The position works from the Wayne State Schoolcraft Center in Livonia and may provide supervision at other Wayne State extension centers as needed.    


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required for ASO I in Education, Business Administration or related filed.

Master's degree required for ASO II - Education, Business Administration or related filed.

Minimum 1-3 years' experience in higher education in relevant areas; enrollment services, academic advising, curricular planning, student affairs or directly related experience.

Ability to work well with others, with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and students.

Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize workload.

Critical thinking skills and the ability to propose and implement effective solutions to issues and/or problems.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Computer literacy required.  


Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in communications, education, business, technology, or related field. Minimum 2-4 years' experience in higher education in relevant areas; enrollment services, academic advising, curricular planning, student affairs or directly related experience. Ability to assimilate extensive knowledge of academic programs, policies and requirements.
