Academic Services Coordinator & Scheduling Deputy

Job Summary

The Academic Services Coordinator & Schedule Deputy works with school leadership, faculty, and the Office of the Registrar to develop and publish the academic unit’s course schedule for all academic terms. Responsible for troubleshooting scheduling conflicts with the Registrar and proposing resolutions, assists instructors with evening exam scheduling, and ensures that the required course related information is posted. This position enables the academic unit to stay current on university policies, procedures, and deadlines, including those related to International Students and Scholars. Maintains files of reports of incomplete grades and responds to questions from students regarding grade inquiries. This position will also serve as the initial point of contact and provides support for graduate student registration and assist in monitoring student progress and performance from admission to graduation for the School of Construction Management Technology. This position confers with graduate students on registration procedures, schedule adjustments, course load, area requirements, and general policies established by the School, College, and Graduate School. This position assists admission staff with processing all prospective students and required application documents and is responsible for working with the Graduate School, Registrar, and Bursar’s offices to make minor adjustments to departmental admissions processes to meet institutional and student needs and maintain currency with new College and Graduate School procedures, policies, and department policies and procedures.

This position is located on the Purdue University West Lafayette Campus.


What We're Looking For: 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years' relevant work experience in clerical, customer service, secretarial support, or closely related experience

 

Skills Needed:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets
  • Ability to: 
    • learn and become proficient with Cognos Database Query, Curriculog, and Banner
    • work independently with limited supervision
    • use sound judgment in making decisions
    • perform analysis to understand and resolve issues, and independently develop solutions or recommendations for problems requiring higher-level approval

 

What is helpful (Preferred):

  • Familiarity with academic scheduling tools and concepts, programs, procedures, policies, and the admissions and transition-to-major processes
  • Knowledge of Cognos Database Query, Curriculog, and Banner

Additional Information:
  • Purdue will not sponsor an employment authorization for this position 
  • The salary range for this position is between $17.00 - $19.00/hour, commensurate with education and experience
  • A Background Check will be required for employment in this position 
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime)
