The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recruiting a family physician or double boarded Med-Peds physician to help establish a rural health primary care office in Adams County, a community 60-90 minutes from Cincinnati. The faculty will serve the community, provide primary care at an Adams County Regional Medical Center primary care office. In addition, the faculty will have dedicated academic time for community engagement, community-based research activities, and development of rural health educational opportunities for learners. The faculty will have the opportunity to serve at the ground level of building an academic rural health primary care center.


Essential Functions

Teaching: As faculty, the faculty would be expected to:

  • Develop and implement student and resident rural rotation in the primary care office.
  • Supervise and teach learners in primary care.  
  • Provide learner feedback, written and verbal.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment for learners.
  • Participate in faculty development seminars and workshops.

 

 Clinical Care

  • Provide direct patient care services at an Adams County Regional Medicine Center Primary Care Office. Opportunities available for faculty wishing to provide inpatient, nursing home, or hospice care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinical sites.
  • Serve on hospital committees as needed.

 

Community Engagement: The faculty will develop partnerships within the community, building foundational relationships for community-based participatory research. The faculty will receive mentoring and support from the DFCM in their community activities.

Scholarship: All care faculty are expected to contribute to scholarship, including any of the following: curriculum development; research; regional and national presentations; publications; peer review. On average, each core faculty member is anticipated to complete two scholarly activities per year.


Minimum Requirements
  • The skills to provide the required clinical care, including outpatient medicine for all ages. Qualified applicants must demonstrate experience in primary care teaching.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted Ohio Medical License and DEA license.
  • Board Certification with the American Board of Family Medicine or in the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Pediatrics.
