The Academic Programs Manager position provides support for all Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP) graduate training program and center activities, with additional responsibilities in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences including support of the master’s program within the Department of Neuroscience.


The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to manage the administrative operations for CNUP graduate program, which spans over 20 schools and departments across the University, as it pertains to the recruiting and tracking of students across the CNUP program. Secondary responsibilities include: purchasing and buyer support for CNUP, organizing contracts with outside vendors, travel coordination, and expense reimbursements for CNUP, administration of the T32 training grant, and course scheduling and room coordination. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to prioritize duties to meet deadlines, excellent computer skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

 

The Graduate Program Administrator is responsible for the following:
- Providing consultation to graduate students throughout the life cycle of the graduate program and acting as the primary contact for the program.
- Working with the CNUP Admissions Committee to oversee the entire admissions process including interview scheduling and admissions offers.

- Reviewing and evaluating operations, processes, and procedures to recommend and implement enhancements based on research, feedback, evaluations, and needs of the students

- Serving as the graduate training program coordinator, organizing, and attending multiple committee meetings, and providing assistance to the CNUP Administrator, graduate program, and center co-director(s) as needed.

- Assisting, as necessary, in planning and organizing special events, and making recommendations to enhance special events based on the needs of the students.

 

The Academic Programs Manager must continuously collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency of operations and the program. This position requires the ability to work independently to quickly and efficiently complete multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines, as well as to work in a team environment.



Job Summary

Manages administrative, business, accounting, budgets, and all-ongoing activities associated with an academic program. Develops and implements program and strategic plans. Designs and supervises communications, website, and technology related to the program.


Essential Functions 

The incumbent must have excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have knowledge of graduate program requirements in addition to University policies. Must be able to accurately use a computer using Word, Excel, and email. The incumbent must have outstanding communication skills (written and verbal). Must have the ability to use various office equipment such as a telephone, copier, Mac, and PC computers. The ability to keep and maintain records is required.


Physical Effort 

Generally sedentary but must have the ability to maneuver around the building and around campus.

Hiring Range $42,969.00 to $53,711.00
