Academic Program Coordinator - This position is an essential part of the Nurse Anesthesia Education team responsible for academic affairs coordination and works most closely with students and their records.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in humanities, education, healthcare or related field.  Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Two years of office experience
  • Strong computer skills including experience with databases and ability to work with email, the internet and Microsoft Word, Excel, Google and Zoom
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people both in person and by phone
  • Self-directed and able to exercise independent judgement
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively organize and concurrently manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three – five years experience in an academic environment

  • Job duties -                                                                       

Manage program curriculum administration including prepare timetable listings, maintain current course descriptions and Graduate Catalogue listings.  Facilitate student enrollment in appropriate courses.

Support academic faculty with developing and delivering web-based courses (Blackboard); testing and grades; room reservations and semester book orders.  Provide guidance to faculty and assistance to faculty to access KUMC ancillary services as required. Track Curriculum and Course changes.

Manage Typhon system to include: student clinical case tracking; student clinical time tracking; student case conference attendance; clinical evaluations; tracking of student credentials; and prepare NBCRNA transcripts for graduating students. Administer all program evaluations including, course evaluations, faculty evaluations, program evaluations, clinical site evaluations, annual program evaluation and 1 and 3 year graduate and employer evaluations.  Evaluations are both computer (Typhon system) and Blackboard based.

Develop and maintain record-keeping systems for student, personnel, academic, alumni, and administrative systems.  Oversee maintenance of department calendars including Google events calendars. Oversee the coordination of distribution of daily OR. Assist in coordinating activities with other university and hospital departments including:  Registrar’s office, Student Health, Financial Aid, Student Counseling, Graduate Studies

Enter and Monitor the Progress to Degree. Oversee all academic affairs activities including enrollment, course and room scheduling, course and clinical evaluations, grade reporting, comprehensive examination, student projects and presentation, and department library.

Administer all program evaluations including, course evaluations, faculty evaluations, program evaluations, clinical site evaluations, annual program evaluation and 1 and 3 year graduate and employer evaluations.  Evaluations are both computer (Typhon system) and Blackboard based.

Contact Volunteer Faculty Coordinators regarding bimonthly student evaluations

Provide back up to other department functions as assigned.
