Purpose

The Academic Program Coordinator will play a central role in supporting the success of the C. Aubrey Smith Center for Auditing Education & Research (CAS)'s mission and goals. Specifically, this position will partner closely with Center leadership, Professor Jaime Schmidt, to manage Center operations, oversee and coordinate programs and events, develop and implement a marketing and public relations strategy, manage the Center’s internal and external relations, and provide research and data analysis support.



Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Center

  • Provide executive assistant support to the Director. This will include calendaring, managing meetings, scheduling travel, and representing the Director in meetings, as necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to Executive Committee meetings.
  • Oversee financial management of all program activities by managing Center budget.
  • Manage purchase orders and invoicing.
  • Send correspondence to Center members.

Assist with Center Programs and Events

  • Collaborate with departmental event coordinator to coordinate the Center’s events including, but not limited to a bi-annual Audit Research Symposium, a bi-annual audit alumni event, a high school outreach program as well as panels for current and prospective students.

Develop and implement a marketing and public relations strategy

  • Manage the Center’s website
  • Create and distribute Center and Accounting Department newsletters
  • Create marketing materials and collateral for distribution at conferences, symposiums and outreach events

Manage the Center’s internal and external relations

  • Develop a UT audit-specific network of past students and current employers (for CAS membership, research lab, and donor outreach).
  • Develop and manage cross-functional relationships with School and University offices to ensure programmatic success, including, but not limited to, the BBA Program Office, Career Management and Corporate Relations, Development and External Relations, and other university offices that align with the Center’s mission and priorities.
  • Recruit new members to the Center Advisory Council, develop industry collaborators, and maintain an understanding of industry trends and best practices.

Research and Data Analysis Support

  • Assist with the Center’s Research mission. Research-related tasks may include: data analysis, creation of an audit-specific behavioral lab and creation of an audit-specific large language model


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience coordinating a program and performing complex administrative functions in an academic setting.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and as a supportive team member.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and follow-through ability.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, time management, and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in being able to organize program events as well as organizing, recording, and analyzing data.
  • Previous success managing multiple projects, assessing work priorities, as well as regular ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with software, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and comfort learning new technologies.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with event planning, computer programming, and/or managing subordinates,

  • Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems or willingness to learn about them.

  • Familiarity with Tableau, python coding, and LLM modeling such as ChatGPT.


Salary Range

$50,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • Works in standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
