JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Health and Human Development’s Center for Student Advising and Engagement (CSAE) is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to provide staff support for the CSAE and Undergraduate Education programs and operations. The CSAE is responsible for pre-major and exploratory academic advising, coordination of advising across the college, and engagement programming primarily focused on the first-year experience.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

  • Manage the daily operations of the CSAE during core business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

  • Ensure coverage of the front desk and main office telephone.

  • Assist students in scheduling advising appointments in Starfish and rescheduling appointments as needed.

  • Supervise and train student employees.

  • Serve as a first-line resource to students and other constituents.

  • Provide administrative staff support to academic advisers in the CSAE and other Undergraduate Education administrators and staff. Examples of duties might include managing calendars, ordering supplies, reserving classroom space, supporting programs, etc.

  • Serve as Dean’s Proxy and process student administrative decisions such as Change of Campus, Change of Major, Leave of Absence, course substitutions, and Reenrollment.

  • Process academic adviser assignments for all academic advisers in the college at the University Park Campus.

  • Help to support and coordinate college events and programs such as graduation, orientation, and retention programming.

  • Provide and collect data to support administrators and the Records Coordinator who are responsible for all undergraduate programs and support services.

Education and Experience Requirements:

This position will be filled at an Intermediate Support or Senior Support level, depending on the final applicant's education and experience.

Requires a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree, plus two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for the Intermediate Support level. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to learn and use Penn State student information systems such as LionPath, Starfish, iTwo, and Canvas, etc.

  • Exceptional phone and customer service skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.

  • Monitor deadlines and prioritize appropriately.

Additional Information:

This position is physically located at Penn State’s University Park campus and works in-person the majority of the time.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $61,000.00
