JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


An administrative support professional is being sought to join the Department of Economics as an Academic Program Coordinator.
 

The Academic Program Coordinator will aid the Director of the department’s Master’s Program, which spans five graduate program areas, by providing the following logistical support:

  • Track and process all incoming student applications and offer letters to the Master’s Program (roughly 200-300 applicants a year)

  • Coordinate the graduate student recruitment process: respond to prospective student inquiries; arrange campus visits (i.e., travel, lodging, events)

  • Monitor and update student progress towards achieving critical milestones

  • Maintain the student database and provide the Director with periodic updates and spreadsheets outlining students’ progress

  • Update Penn State's Graduate Admissions Decision System (GRADS)

  • Research answers to questions from graduate students and faculty on policies, procedures, and deadlines from the Graduate School, Global Programs Office, and the Department of Economics


Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty by providing support for coursework, research, and travel arrangements

  • Arrange weekly department seminars: schedule speakers and assist with itinerary planning, manage local arrangements, process reimbursement forms

  • Update the department’s website

  • Manage all Visiting Scholar duties for the department: communicate with visitors; obtain necessary documents and approvals; complete required forms, including those to initiate the visa process for international visitors

  • Purchase office items for the department and approve expenses

Education and Experience:
This position requires a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other required qualifications include:

  • Ability to be detail-oriented and multi-task

  • Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
