The STEM Exploration and Engagement Scholars Program (STEM EE), within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a STEM Scholars Planning Specialist to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. The STEM Scholars Planning Specialist develops and manages curricular and co-curricular programs for the Arts and Sciences (ASC) STEM Exploration and Engagement Scholars Program (STEM EE), as determined by the Associate Provost and Director for Honors & Scholars, the Natural and Mathematical Sciences divisional dean’s designee, and the ASC Executive Dean. Collaborates with other Scholars Programs within and beyond the Arts and Sciences on a regular basis to deliver co-curricular and experiential programming. Develops course content and instructs a section(s) of Scholars Seminar 1100 (1 credit hour course for incoming Scholars). Creates and delivers outreach and engagement opportunities for Scholars to lead activities for the Columbus community. Develops and manages Scholars program budget. Serves as a liaison between the college and its units. Assists academic advisors in monitoring academic progress and advising Scholars on matters affecting progress. Refers students to other university offices and services as appropriate. Directs the recruitment of incoming freshman Scholars for the ASC STEM EE Scholars program. Reviews Scholars applications and responds to inquiries. Participates in college- and university-sponsored recruitment events as appropriate. Participates in sessions for incoming Scholars at orientation. Coordinates activities of Choose Ohio First Fellows (finding mentors and service opportunities). Oversees tutor training and internship assignments. Directs the recruitment of incoming students for the Natural and Mathematical Sciences division of Arts and Sciences according to the ASC Recruiting Plan. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to: extending programming to non-Scholars students in the colleges and units, serving on committees, and/or supervising work-study students and/or GAA associated with the program. Some evening and weekend work required.

Master’s Level Degree or equivalent education and experience. Prefer at least one degree in a natural and mathematical sciences discipline: Astronomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Data Analytics; Earth Sciences, Evolution Ecology and Organismal Biology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Physics, Statistics.
