Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Academic Pediatrics, seeks an adolescent medicine faculty member at any rank. Clinical responsibilities include providing primarily outpatient clinical care for adolescents with a wide variety of healthcare needs in an academic medical center and community settings as well as consultative inpatient adolescent care.  

As a full-time faculty member, the appointee will contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship, and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. Other duties will include training and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.  We especially welcome applicants with an academic interest and/or potential for building adolescent health programs and scholarship. Numerous opportunities for collaboration are available within the University and with community partners that include Federally Qualified Health Centers and community hospitals.  Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The University of Chicago Medical Center is designated as a both a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and operates a nationally-recognized burn unit. Comer Children's Hospital is an integrated children’s hospital that offers a full complement of pediatric services with a total of 172 general pediatric, NICU and PICU beds.  The Department includes more than 170 full-time faculty members, clinical associates, and postdoctoral researchers.  In addition to teaching medical students, residents and fellows, our faculty conduct cutting-edge translational and clinical research. A tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world's top academic institutions provides the foundation for a career as an academic physician.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in adolescent medicine, and 4) have post-residency work experience.
