Position Description:
The UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics (ISG) is a Center for Interdisciplinary Instruction (CII) within the Division of Life Sciences, with fourteen FTE and eight non-FTE faculty (joint), lecturers, postdoctoral fellows and visitors, teaching apprentices, graduate student researchers (GSRs), and lab staff. The Institute has six career administrative staff, two undergraduate majors (Human Biology and Society BA and BS) and an undergraduate minor in Society and Genetics. ISG is a rapidly growing, interdisciplinary academic unit with faculty networks bridging nearly every school and division within UCLA, its composition of diverse scholars facilitates a highly collaborative and supportive community of scholars, students, and administrators.
The Administrative Analyst is responsible for all academic personnel operations within the Institute associated with all categories above, and offers policy analysis, and procedural guidance to the ISG CAO, faculty, Vice Chair of Academic Personnel and Director on appointments, renewals, and merit and promotion actions for all academic categories.
The Administrative Analyst acts as Preparer/Reviewer for payroll/personnel transactions in UCPath and provides payroll analysis and ledger reconciliation, oversees employment visa applications and renewals for applicable academic employees, ascertains ASE eligibility, processes fee remissions and award transmittals for ASE appointees; serves as Reviewer for purchasing and expense reports, and assumes backup Preparer responsibilities in these areas in the absence of the administrative assistant. .
Additional duties include processing updates for the Institute and its personnel on the on-line directory, supervising the annual on-line equipment inventory updates, managing and maintaining the Institute's Emergency and Safety Plans and Continuity Plan.
