Job Summary

The Academic Outreach Coordinator, under general supervision, develops, organizes, and coordinates the programs to encourage and assist previously enrolled students who would like to continue their studies and finish their degree.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit and support previously enrolled students who have stopped attending the University and have not graduated.

  • Develops, plans, and coordinates outreach, admission and financial aid strategies for identification, recruitment and enrollment programs for the defined student population.  

  • Implement recruitment activities such as presentations, resource tables, interviews, application workshops and designated area projects.

  • Create purposeful interactions between students and academic institution to design individualized, student-centered educational plans that lay the foundation for student success.

  • Maintain knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions.

  • Provide general information about financial aid and scholarship requirements and processes, as well as other options for financing education and assist with budgeting, money management, loans and indebtedness counseling on an individual and group basis.

  • Work with Admissions to follow student application status and pending documents for readmission and equivalencies.

  • Work with the Office of the University Registrar and College Advisors to evaluate student degrees, catalogs, attributes, course equivalencies, etc.

  • Assist students in understanding academic studies, curriculum requirements, and the relationship between majors and careers and provide goal-oriented advising to foster informed choices in students’ educational planning.

  • Manage Social Media platforms and marketing efforts for target student population.

  • Interact with other departments’, administration, and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of the target student population.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience – Three years related recruitment and outreach experience.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.  

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Presentations skills

Licensing / Professional Certification – None.

Supervision of Others

This position does not generally supervise employees.

Other Requirements

  • Evening and weekend work may be required.

  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.

  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
