Position Summary:
 
The Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that handles matters concerning academic integrity and student conduct (i.e., alleged violations of University Policies and/or campus regulations regarding the activity of students and alleged violations of academic misconduct). This is the only office on campus that deals with academic integrity and student conduct matters for the whole campus and enforces the Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations and Students, established by the Regents of the University of California. The Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct administers the student conduct process on campus in a manner that encourages student development and provides conflict resolution that is respectful of all parties through the consistent and objective application of campus and University policy. Through this process, the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct may decide on sanctions that may irrevocably alter the lives of students and has the potential to lead to high profile lawsuits, audits, and investigations.

 


Utilizing advanced, specialized expertise, the Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Specialist is responsible for independently investigating, adjudicating, and processing complex cases referred to the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct (OAISC). Cases include, but are not limited to: academic misconduct, student conduct, students in distress, and sexual violence and sexual harassment. Using advanced knowledge and skills as a seasoned, experienced Student Services professional, performs the full range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life specialization. Assesses situations and determines appropriate action and referral. Works independently under general direction to provide information and interpretation of complex policies, procedures and regulations. Independently determines sanctions that may irrevocably alter the lives of students and has the potential to lead to high profile lawsuits, audits, and investigations.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $64,400.00 - $70,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $66,700.00 - $118,500.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
 
  • Minimum of one year of student conduct or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. 
  • Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution and mediation, problem solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation. 
  • High degree of personal/professional integrity, respect for privacy and confidentiality, a sense of ethics, and a commitment to educating students. 
  • Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Experience in investigating and adjudicating student conduct, SVSH, and academic misconduct cases. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. 
  • Advanced knowledge of federal laws, state laws, and mandates including Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, American With Disabilities Act, Higher Education Act of America, Jeanne Clery Act, and the Drug-Free Schools Act. 
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in working with college and university students involved in leadership programs from diverse areas as clubs and organizations, community service organizations and of campus community agencies. Working knowledge and experience in the practice of student development theory. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse populations including students, faculty, and staff from different cultural backgrounds. 
  • Strong skills to prepare reports, update websites and training/marketing materials. 
  • Ability to oversee a wide variety of projects and manage competing priorities. 
  • Ability to juggle and meet multiple, competing priorities and deadlines in a high stress environment 
  • Strong political acumen and a proven track record of strong cross campus relationships and collaborations with colleagues at all levels of the institution. 
  • Advanced skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. 
  • Knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. 
  • Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. 
  • Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, evaluate and summarize data. 
  • Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to set priorities, balance a heavy workload, adhere to a schedule, and meet deadlines. 
  • Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. 
  • Strong writing, editing and publication experience indicating a strong attention to detail. Skill in writing concise, logical, analytical reports to convey complex issues.
     

Preferred:
 
  • Masters degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education counseling/administration, Juris Doctor, or related area and at least two years of student conduct experience. Experience with Advocate//Simplicity software.
     

Special Conditions Required:
 
  • Occasional evenings or weekends required. 
  • Position works remotely (Office is currently working remotely; subject to change)
