The Opportunity:

The Lou Frey Institute in the School of Politics, Security and International Affairs in the College of Sciences is seeking to fill an Academic Evaluator II (TEMP) position. This position will coordinate existing curricular materials into updated digital formats and versions to reflect the needs of the institute and the constituencies it serves. It will require extensive organization, integration, and knowledge of all resource materials for K-12 civics and government, and their alignment to state standards. This position will involve various organizational collaborative planning to enhance the partnerships formed with other organizations. This is a three month role.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with institute director about project expectations and goals.
  • Collaborating with institute instructional specialists.
  • Managing deadlines and progress to ensure project completion by end of employment term.
  • Collecting and analyzing feedback from institute specialists and other project users to gauge satisfaction and success.
  • Updating and organizing curricular resources to reflect legislative instructional mandates for K-12 civics and government.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in social studies education, political science, curriculum and instruction or other relevant disciplines.
  • A strong background in K-12 civics and/or social studies and at least five years of teaching experience in K-12 classrooms.
  • Experience in curriculum development, providing professional development, and an understanding of current literature in best practice civic and social studies education.
  • Working knowledge of Florida's approach to K-12 and secondary level civics and civic education. Including standards, benchmarks, and assessments.
  • Familiar with the resources and work of the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship at the Lou Frey Institute.
  • Strong communication skills and working knowledge of common office PC software.
  • Editing experience, especially involving curricular materials and/or student literacy resources.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This is a three-month, non-tenure track position.
