Academic Enrichment & Support Center (AESC) Multilingual Coordinator

Approximately 24 hour/week, 9-month position providing academic support to multilingual learners at Bethel University



● provide 5 hours/week multilingual writing support
● help train and support peer tutors who will work one-on-one with multilingual learners
● provide writing and speaking support for 6-12 multilingual students each semester
● provide testing support interviews and letters with recommendations to faculty
● work with individual faculty as needed to help them support multilingual learners in their classes
● help provide faculty development opportunities and workshops on teaching and supporting multilingual learners
● develop and perform outreach activities to multilingual learners
● instruct GES103/203 Writing Studio for Multilingual Learners (1 credit course offerings; GES103 in Fall; GES203 in Spring)
● chair multilingual task force that works on setting vision and adding/refining support for multilingual students
● complete program evaluation biennially (every other year)



● knowledge of the pedagogy and scholarship of linguistics, language acquisition, and/or composition and rhetoric, and anti-racist pedagogy and assessment
● ability to work effectively and empathically as a member of a diverse community of educators and with a diverse community of learners
● ability to work collaboratively with staff and faculty across disciplines.
● understanding of and commitment to Bethel’s efforts to develop as an inclusive university community



● Substantial experience teaching multilingual students in the classroom and in 1:1 settings
● postsecondary or high school experience preferred
● formal training in teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) preferred



MA in ESL/EFL/Composition/Rhetoric or Literacy or related field required; PhD preferred



Compensation:

Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience
