Passionate about student recruitment and retention? The College of Education at Washington State University Vancouver has an Academic Coordinator position for assisting undergraduate and graduate teacher certification students.

Summary of Duties:

This position is responsible for academic advising, student recruitment and retention, and program management for undergraduate and graduate teacher certification programs in the College of Education. General areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Program advising and developing individual academic plans for current students.

  • Participating in recruitment and retention activities that include evaluation of transcripts, tracking and following up on prospective student leads, and pro-active outreach and service to enrolled students to ensure timely degree completion.

  • Interpreting and applying university, departmental, and program policies, and staying apprised of Washington state requirements for educational certificates and endorsements.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for‐ year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Accreditations: WSU ACADA Level 1 certification within 6 months of hire.

Experienced using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to independently establish work priorities and accomplish duties with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in higher education student services or advising.

Demonstrated work experience in at least one of these areas:

  • Advising, directing, or counseling people one-on-one towards established goals.

  • Experience in recruiting for a targeted program or communicating with prospective students/clients about a targeted program.

  • Supporting and assisting people resolving issues and/or navigating institutional systems.

Demonstrated awareness or understanding of the experiences of non-traditional, first-generation, or under-represented college student populations through personal experiences, paid work, or volunteer experience.

Demonstrated experience working with electronic student information systems typically used in higher education.

Monthly Salary:

$4,050/month - $4,216/month ($48,600 - $50,594/year), commensurate with qualifications and experience.  

Work Location and Schedule: 

Monday-Friday - 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Hybrid work schedule and flexible scheduling may be an option after the initial training period.
