Position Description

The Academic and Creative Media Producer will be responsible for the production and project management of educational and promotional videos for Harvard Medical School’s academic, research, and executive events and activities. Partnering and consulting with school faculty, students, administrative staff and leadership, this position will develop, manage, and execute both large and small video series and projects. The Academic and Creative Media Producer will lead video production projects across Harvard Medical School, responsible for planning and budget estimating, producing, recording, editing, and final delivery of online and remote teaching video assets, marketing and informational videos, and other high-value durable online video content for both private and public distribution. Daily activities include managing projects to budget targets, supervise temporary and consultant staff, manage client and talent interactions, recording and post processing, final quality control and delivery of video products.

Reporting to the Senior Academic and Creative Media Producer, this position will work as part of a highly collaborative cross-functional team of Media Services technicians and instructional technologists to support a multitude of regular and featured events and activities. This position will lead and manage the contributions of other members of these teams assigned to video production projects, and ensure the highest quality output is attained within the allotted budget. Other activities include supporting daily teaching and learning activities and events for both remote and online learning, as well as classroom and amphitheater presentations and recordings. Because these events may take place outside of normal business hours, including weekends, this position will require a flexible work schedule.


Basic Qualifications

Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia/Visual Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or related
  • field
  • 7 + years’ experience in video production management and editing
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern camera, audio, and lighting equipment and production techniques
  • Demonstrated broadcast level video editing and storytelling techniques utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Experience managing large repository of source footage and versioning across multiple projects and clients
  • Must possess solid track record for meeting deadlines with the ability to respond quickly and with flexibility to changing conditions
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities; a self-starter
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication
  • Strong creative portfolio
