Job Summary:

Academic Advisor & Student Success Technology Specialist to provide academic advising and academic success outreach to undergraduate students pursuing baccalaureate and associate degrees offered at Miami University Regionals. This includes academic planning, connecting advisees with appropriate university resources, communicating relevant information verbally and electronically, and teaching student success courses. Provide technical support for campus & divisional student success platforms and related data reporting.

Miami Regionals Advisors serve a wide range of Miami students in different capacities. First-year students and transfers, returning students, College-Credit Plus, and students in majors across the University to provide advising and guidance for timely graduation.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Academic Advisor & Student Success Technology Specialist will:
? Assist students with their transition to college, including participation in the admission, orientation, and registration funnel.
? Provide individualized, holistic support for undergraduate students through caseload advising, and proactive nudges focused on retention.
? Conduct academic interventions and provide outreach efforts focused on retention and academic success.
? Provide academic advising across the university curriculum, policies, and processes to facilitate students' successful and timely educational planning and degree completion in alignment with their educational and career goals.
? Monitor student progress through the utilization of advising and student success technologies for outreach to students.
? Partner with academic departments and student success stakeholders across the university to ensure consistency in advising to support students' sense of belonging.
? Instruct up to two credit hours per academic year of student success course work, such as UNV 101: I am Miami.
? Provide user training and support for the University student success platform.
? Utilize University data systems to provide timely data, analysis, and distribution to support student success-focused retention efforts.
? Serve on committees/working groups as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree, which must be earned by the appointment date. Minimum six (6) months of full-time student success experience in a university or college setting. Experience gained during a graduate program can apply (graduate experience is prorated; 1 semester of an assistantship is equivalent to 2.25 months of full-time experience).

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, psychological counseling, or related field; Nine (9) months or more of full-time advising experience in a university or college setting; Understanding of student development theory; experience working with diverse student populations; Understanding the purpose and advantages of a liberal arts education; Excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking), organization, technological and collaborative skills; Experience with technology such as: Banner, uAchieve (degree audits), Student Success platforms (ex: Navigate/Starfish), Slate, and Google Suite. Must be able to work collaboratively on a team, including the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations. Demonstrated experience using technology, report generation, and data analyses.
