The College of Arts and Science is seeking a dedicated Academic Advisor to support senior and graduation advising. This individual will report to the Associate Director of the Advising Center who is charged with providing support to students in their final year who are preparing to graduate. Working closely with the College Cohort Program team, they will conduct assessment and create innovative support programs and services addressing the needs of seniors. Utilizing data regarding persistence and graduation rates, the person in this position will help identify students who may be at risk of not completing the degree and conduct intensive outreach and assistance efforts to help students cross the finish line. Advise and counsel a significant cohort of first-year students, serving as the primary advisor until they declare their major, and remaining as a support and resource person throughout their undergraduate career. Provide overview of curriculum, policies and procedures. Assist with program development and implementation of one of the College's comprehensive academic support programs (e.g. First-Year/Freshman and Transfer Orientation and Advising; Sophomore Cohort President development and selection; Second-year class activities & programming; etc.) to ensure it meets the current needs of students. Analyze data received through student inquiries, market research, and input and recommend new programs and courses to meet changing needs. Assist in the implementation of marketing events to recruit students for admissions into College's Programs, including developing information sessions and open houses, and attending university-wide and external events. Serve as liaison with faculty and other University personnel, and representing the Dean and the College to internal and external constituencies.



Required Education:
Bachelor's degree and
Preferred Education:
MA in higher education/student affairs strongly preferred
Required Experience:
2-3 years experience in counseling, advising, student services, program development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in an academic environment, orientation, transition programs and sophomore programming.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to interpret and communicate policies to individuals at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
