To provide guidance and advice to students on course selection, prerequisites, career planning and continuing higher education. To provide advising services regarding student academics or aspects of student life. To maintain accurate client information and adhere to confidentiality standards.To assist with student recruitment/retention and serve on special committees as needed. To provide new student orientation and outreach services to junior colleges for undergraduate program admissions. To assist departments with curriculum development. 

The Academic Advisor will work with students to facilitate successful and timely degree completion by monitoring student progress and providing information regarding curriculum policies, procedures, and guidelines for the degree programs that are advised. The advisor will also identify students who are experiencing academic difficulty and develop strategies for success in partnership with the student.

(Annual Salary:  $38,209.60  -  $60,008.00)




Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. If job is in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS), teaching 1-3 courses is required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. 

The ideal candiate should have knowledge of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) polices governing Educator Preparation Programs and educator certification and higher education student recruitment, orientation, access, transition, retention, and success.
