Job Description:
Pre-Law Advisors provide educational services and support to UT Dallas students and alumni interested in attending law school/pursuing legal careers. As students and alumni explore, establish, and achieve law school admission, responsibilities of the Pre-Law Advisor include:
- Informing advisees about skills/knowledge for success in law school, and suggesting curricular/co-curricular opportunities to develop these areas.
- Providing information on law schools including rankings/other statistics and evaluating advisees' chances of obtaining admission.
- Assisting advisees with the law school application process, inclusive of personal statements, letters of recommendation, and taking the LSAT.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years related experience; or Master's degree.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in a field related to advising and/or education.
Preferred Experience:
- Three to five years of experience working in higher education
- Two years of experience in Pre-Law advising at a college/university
- A broad knowledge of law school admissions
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, administrators and others
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
