Job Summary: The Academic Advisor will work with students to facilitate successful and timely degree completion by monitoring student progress and providing information regarding curriculum policies, procedures, and guidelines for the degree programs that are advised. The advisor will also identify students who are experiencing academic difficulty and develop strategies for success in partnership with the student. The advisor is responsible for securing field placements, assisting students with reviewing degree plans, course registration, maintaining advising records, and other duties related to student success.

In accordance with UWF Human Resources Policy HR-20.02-09/15, Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment, a time-limited appointment is a position funded by contract and grant, auxiliary, or local fund, for a project for a specific period. A time-limited position shall have the same rights as a regular position except that the position is not entitled to notice of separation at the expiration of the appointment and shall not have layoff and recall rights.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in an appropriate area of specialization 2 years of appropriate experience.
Position Qualifications: Master’s Degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
Preferred Qualifications Experience advising students in a university setting, and knowledge of academic programs in areas to be served.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 80% - A TeacherReady advisor will be knowledgeable of and provide students with the resources and support to promote student success for areas such as FTCEs, fieldwork, coursework, completion, and transfer requirements. Process letters of enrollment, final paperwork for completion, verification forms, and transcript requests. Will work with school districts to secure field placements for students. Approve mentor recommendations, upload CET documentation, and maintain mentor communications. Approve and upload student FTCE and Statements of Eligibility. Monitor student progression and assist students with stops, withdrawals, and re-enrollments. Accurately and efficiently document interactions with students and students’ progress and use multiple forms of media to communicate with students (e.g., email, telephone, video calls). Respond to students in a timely fashion. Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines. Utilize university/college technology platforms for student documentation and communication (i.e. TeacherReady portal, Canvas, Exxat, TeacherReady Community Facebook page, tableau, etc.) - (Essential)
  • 15% - Assist with meeting or exceeding enrollment targets, progression targets, retention, feedback targets, and customer service goals. Responsible for special projects, program reporting tasks, and/or responsibility for specific business processes. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Seek development through on-campus workshops/training and/or professional organizations and other advising related duties that support the mission of the college and institution. - (Essential)
