TRANSFER ACADEMIC ADVISOR I

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an ACADEMIC ADVISOR I for academic advising prospective transfer students. To provide guidance and advice to students on such matters as course selection, course prerequisites, career planning, and continuing higher education. To provide other counseling services regarding student academics or other aspects of student life. To refer to other agencies or offices as required. To collect data related to the assessment of students, assist with student recruitment/retention, and serve on special committees as needed. To maintain accurate student information and adhere to confidentiality standards. To provide new student orientation and outreach services to junior colleges for undergraduate program admissions. May coordinate support services for students, prepare special and recurring reports regarding the status of students and/or assist with departmental publications.

(Annual Salary:  $37,345  -  $42,311)

Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. The ideal candidate will be a leader in the office and have excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills and customer service.
