Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of higher education

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities:

  • Advising - Provide academic advice and guidance to undergraduate students. Meets with freshmen and transfer students during new student orientation conferences and assist in the registration process. Advises students students with academic and probationary concerns, monitors and reviews degree plans with students. May initiate add/drop, Q drops, withdrawals and change of curriculum processes. Advises students on degree programs, academic schedules, course schedules, course planning and selections, major options, and career and educational goals. May process course adjustments and teacher certifications. Assists with programs that foster retention of identified groups of students through activities such as mentoring, monitoring of student grades and other support programs. Maintains record of student contacts. Monitors student probationary terms. Uses COMPASS for student registration, degree evaluations, course availability, etc.
  • Referral - Refers prospective and enrolled undergraduate students in areas concerning college admission, readmission, professional concerns, housing, student financial aid, and student services.
  • Administration - Responds to inquiries from students and parents. With direction from supervisor interacts with college and other University offices regarding admissions, registration, advising and counseling.
  • Recruitment - May participate in on and off campus recruitment activities in various settings. Perform other duties as assigned.
