Work Flexibility: Hybrid schedule. Currently, the CoTA academic advisors typically work 3 days on campus & 2 days remote.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF College of The Arts consists of four academic units (School of Architecture & Community Design; School of Art & Art History; School of Music; School of Theatre & Dance); and the Contemporary Art Museum & Graphic Studio. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has primary responsibility for undergraduate advising in the College of The Arts (https://www.usf.edu/arts/). This position is located on the Tampa campus and coordinates with the St. Petersburg campus advisor for students who move between the two campuses and programs. Undergraduate academic advising includes: responsibilities in school and college recruitment activities; record keeping/tracking/reporting of student progression; and providing College of The Arts undergraduate students with quality academic support including guidance with advising, counseling, financial aid, health and wellness, orientation, etc. The College of The Arts currently has over 1500 majors and an advising team that includes 4 other Advisors, a Senior Advisor II/Manager of Advising, and a Manager of Academics and Student Success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regularly provides advising for students in the undergraduate degree programs.  Creates and adjusts students' program plan and tracks students' progress each semester using Archivum and updates DegreeWorks.  Prepares program plans for students each semester to indicate the courses they should take toward their degree using DegreeWorks.
Provides on a semester basis an up-to-date summary report of each student's progress.  Alerts students to scholarship, internship, and employment opportunities. Assists in connecting students with various services and offices on campus including such areas as: tutoring, counseling center, financial aid, registrar, and others.
Attends meeting with other academic advisors about policies/procedures the students must follow to complete the program. Works with staff, faculty, and administration in the School of Art & Art History, other areas of the College and University offices and services to facilitate the needs of students.
Recruitment for the College of The Arts with a primary focus on undergraduate degree programs. Conducts regularly scheduled information sessions and participates in orientations at the College level. Responds to inquiries from prospective students and families for undergraduate and graduate programs in studio art and art history.
Provides the assigned School Director with information regarding student issues and concerns about the program and student services. Prepares appropriate semester and annual reports concerning recruitment and retention activities and maintains accurate student files.
Uses Banner system to permit student courses. Verifies which courses will be accepted towards satisfying program requirements. Certifies completion of certificate programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree & 2-5 years advising experience.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling or an academic field directly related to the advisor's specific responsibilities with one year of advising or related academic functions within higher education.
Bachelors and/or Master's degree in Theatre or Dance.
