Position Summary:
The Academic Advisor serves as the primary point of contact for students seeking academic and student services in the college. Academic Advisors assist students in developing an academic plan to achieve their personal and professional goals. The advisor evaluates their students' degree progress/eligibility, educating and providing guidance and direction regarding degree requirements, and available programs. Interprets College, University and Campus policies and procedures. Educates students on course registration process, selection and available College and University resources and opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advise incoming and current students regarding coursework and other degree requirements.
  • Oversee all elements of academic programs including grade management, student records, student handbook, student projects and website maintenance.
  • Coordinate admissions policies and procedures including counseling students, record management, application deadlines, and application outcomes.
  • Assist with the evaluation and process of all applications, coordinate file review with admissions committee, and enter decisions in online system.
  • Resource and consultant for students regarding their progress in the academic programs and completion of all requirements. Provide information on scholarships and financial resources.
  • Develop student recruitment marketing materials including brochures, website, and testimonials. Coordinate and help develop student recruitment plan.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, or a related field required.
    • Two years of work experience in an academic setting required; in higher education Knowledge of university policies, available student resources, and matriculation procedures.
      Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience using student applicant databases and course management systems.
    • Experience in higher education in academic advising
