This 2.5-year administrative position supports a National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovations of Graduate Education (IGE) three-year grant awarded to the Swanson School Chemical Engineering Department.

The position comprises helping to manage aspects of the new graduate program, such as managing student materials, record-keeping, working with administrative offices to implement logistics of the new program, taking field notes, assisting with and scheduling meetings and workshops, and helping students with questions and issues concerns regarding the new program.

This is a part-time academic administrator position with flexible work hours, but it equates to two days per week (15 hours/week). The work is hybrid, with some required on-campus days (e.g., workshops, special meetings).

Applicant should be well versed in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Zoom.



Job Summary

Manages all aspects of graduate and/or undergraduate academic administrative matters. Monitors degree completion progress and keeps accurate records. Performs administrative, advisory, and editorial duties. Manages the department admission process, assists with attracting prospective students, and processes student financial appointments.


Essential Functions 
  •      Manages all aspects of graduate academic administrative matters related to the NSF-funded program.
  • ·         Keeps accurate and complete student records and ensures students complete the requirements of the funded program.
  • ·         Performs administrative and editorial duties.
  • ·         Assists with student-based activities related to the program.
  • ·         Serve as a liaison between the department and college administrative offices.
  • ·         Assists with student concerns associated with the programming and in referring students to needed resources.
  • ·         Arranges special events. 

Physical Effort 

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
