Advertised Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Benefits Manager, manages Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance, and coordinates comprehensive Workers’ Compensation and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)/Leave program for all UofSC campuses. Monitors claim/cost data and prepares statistical reports for analysis. Collaborates with the leave requester, injured, supervisors, adjuster, and providers to facilitate satisfactory resolution of claims. Ensures federal and state reporting requirements are met, to include the OSHA 300 Log.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master’s degree and 1-year related program experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience managing ACA, FMLA/Leave and/or Workers’ Compensation programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of ACA, State Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures and general employment safety practices. Knowledge of University leave policies and FMLA laws, practices, and procedures. Working knowledge of PEBA Insurance benefits and Retirement systems.


Organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with UofSC departments and State agencies. Proficient in the use of word processing, database management and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of the on-line OSHA reporting system. Working knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act guidelines.
