Abu Dhabi - Technology Manager

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, the Technology Manager (TM) for Berklee Abu Dhabi will manage the overall operation of technology facilities (studio and tech-lab), teaching rooms (ensemble and multi purpose rooms) and performance facilities of the center. The TM will be responsible for making sure that the technology and performance facilities are in proper functioning order, managing 3rd party providers and suppliers relationships, maintaining schedules, providing technology support for all activities in the center, engineering recording sessions, doing live sound for performances, teaching ensembles or workshops and other duties as assigned.
The TM is an organized, creative and service oriented person, ready to troubleshoot technology on the spot with a passion for studio and live show production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Studio, Lab and Performance Services

  • Manage schedules of studio, and performance spaces.

  • Perform hardware integration, software installations and upgrades. Consistently stay abreast of any new technologies and opportunities for hardware and software upgrades of the studios labs and performance spaces.

  • Ensure maintenance of musical instruments in ensemble rooms.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers

  • In consultation with the Director and Artistic Director create and enforce space usage policies and documentation including but not limited to reservation policies, room zero-states, supervision and maintenance checklists, etc. 

  • Manage storage and backup of multimedia digital assets.

  • Audio and Video data network setup and troubleshooting.

Event/Program 

  • Provide technology support and A/V technology setup for clinics, workshops, masterclasses and performances.

  • Conduct recording, mixing and mastering sessions, live sound and or stage management for performances and events.

  • Lead technology production teams for larger performances in and out of the center.

  • Work with Artistic Director in the logistical planning of events and activities in the center

Administration

  • Manage all administrative tasks for studio, technology and performance facilities operations, in a timely manner including processing, purchase orders, invoices, purchase card and expense reports, and other internal paperwork.

  • Provide administrative support to the Director and Artistic Director as needed.

  • Maintain professional demeanor and clear communication with visitors of the center and cooperate with colleagues and supervisors.

Instruction

  • Conduct workshops or courses for students and other members of the staff as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Mac OS and Windows advanced user

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer in recording studio facility

  • Experience working on large format audio consoles

  • Audio and video network system operation experience

  • Proficient use of  DAWs (ProTools, Logic, Ableton) is a must. Video editing software (Adobe  Premiere, AfterFX, Davinci Resolve) is a plus.

  • Excellent technology troubleshooting skills when working under pressure

  • Strong verbal and written English skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of Middle-Eastern heritage and traditions is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Deep understanding of music technology trends.

  • Open, flexible, and creative approach to problem solving

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and problem solve effectively

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Motivated and punctual

  • Experience working on large-scale live productions and music festivals
    This position is located in Abu Dhabi.
