AAPI Center Student Assistant | Spring '24

Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a student assistant for the AAPI Center to begin in March 2024. The primary responsibilities of the AAPI Center Student Assistant include assisting with planning outreach events and cultural heritage celebrations and using social media to elevate the visibility, and strengthen the reputation, of the AAPI Center.
This student assistant will report to the AANAPISI Program Manager and work in collaboration with the AAPI Center professional staff. This position is open to undergraduate students currently enrolled at USF.

Full Job Description:


Duties
  • Collaborate with AAPI Center staff to plan and execute events for students, staff and faculty

  • Support the AAPI Center in outreach efforts with AANAPISI on-campus partners, such as Asian Pacific American Studies , the Cultural Centers , and the Office of ADEI

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with AAPI student organizations on campus, such as the Culturally Focused Clubs Council (CFCC) and Pacific Islander Collective (PIC)

  • Represent the AAPI Center; communicate services and programs to students, staff, and faculty at tabling events, office hours, and other events

  • Collaboratively coordinate and execute the department's social media strategy across key social media channels with a focus on Instagram and other short-form content

  • Sharing content on social media from other USF partner pages to increase collaborative marketing support and provide more resources for our followers

  • Design print-based and digital materials, such as print flyers and digital signage

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and good disciplinary standing

  • Ability to work in partnership with multiple campus units

  • Demonstrated commitment to issues of Asian American and Pacific Islander diversity, leadership, and social justice

  • Available to work a minimum of 5-7 hours/week, including some evenings, with flexible hours

  • Organized, punctual, and dependable

  • Able to take initiative on projects, multitask, and problem solve; team-oriented as well as independent worker


Desired Qualifications

  • Active involvement in campus organizations, activities, or Cultural Centers' programs and resources

  • Creativity and passion for arts and creative expression, including experience with visual arts and multimedia

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, particularly Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Sheets

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator and InDesign

$20 per hour
