Job Description:

Management of Admissions/Progression for Graduate Programs. Primary responsibility will be for the online MS degree program. Compile and review all graduate and professional admission applications. Verify that all requirements have been fulfilled calculate GPAs, and facilitate admissions committee meetings. Follow up with applicants regarding outstanding application materials. Analyze admissions data and distribute to Chair, Graduate Coordinator and Graduate Admission Advisory Committee. Respond to graduate program inquiries and advise prospective students of admission criteria.


The incumbent will prepare and disseminate academic advisement for all students in the Department for each of the three semesters (fall-spring-summer). Correspond and assist students with registration and curriculum problems. Consult with other administrators regarding student concerns and/or issues. Ensure that all graduate students are registered for appropriate courses. Responsible for on-line drop/add, requesting new sections, and revising schedules as needed. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining electronic and paper files of graduate students.




Collaborates with the graduate committee on Commencement and the annual PhD student research symposium. Administer exit surveys to graduating students and compile prospective employment data. Maintain communication with students regarding commencement activities and requirements.


As per policy and established curriculum plans, advise students in the Ph.D. and M.S. certificate programs. Assist faculty with advising questions. Monitor student progression.




Compiles enrollment, admission and graduation data as needed. Gathers data regarding FTE and SCH for the graduate
programs.


Verify accuracy of the graduate programs’ academic information on the Department of Microbiology  website.



Work with Department Chair, Graduate Coordinators, and Administrative Specialist to develop and implement educational and administrative rules and/or policies for recommending new and improved programs and/or techniques for effective delivery of academic programs. Serve as departmental liaison between UF/IFAS Academic Programs and off- campus programs to keep abreast of regulations, procedures, and opportunities regarding academic programs. Attend meetings held on graduate academic and personnel procedures. Serve, as requested, as representative for the Graduate 
Coordinators.  On behalf of the Graduate Coordinator, ensure that graduate and professional students adhere to and comply with University and College policies. Monitor graduate students admission, progression and graduation.



Establish and maintain databases for student applications, enrollments, graduation rates and pass rates for respective graduate program national examinations.


Serves as liaison with the UF Student Financial Affairs Office and assists students in applying for and receiving benefits, including graduate traineeship and fellowships. Advertises and distributes information regarding College scholarship program, ensures scholarship applications are complete, prepares letters for notification to students of the outcome of their
applications.




Reviews and submits graduate catalog and graduate handbook edits to UF and Graduate catalogs for accuracy.

 

Expected Salary:  $24-$25/hour
Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or academic field related to the college and one year of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to someone with an MS degree from the Microbiology and Cell Science online degree program.
